Bruges is a small city nestled approximately 1 hour away from Brussels and it has much to offer the solo traveller as well as families and couples alike.
I love coming here as it is really easy to get to from London – a 2 hour smooth journey on the Eurostar will find yourself in Brussels and then a train out to Bruges is a further 50 minutes. Navigating Brussels central station is very simple and there are lots of timetables and displays to help you make sure you are waiting at the right spor (track!).
Once at Bruges station you can either catch a taxi, bus or walk to your accommodation. I tend to stay at the Novotel just on the outskirts of the main square as this gives me quick access into the heart of the town and also to the station for venturing further afield. The Novotel had always been clean, staff very friendly and the breakfast is of a good quality.
To be continued – I’m off away having an adventure!
